About SPC

Sunny Penedo Chico immigrated to the United States from Cuba as a little girl. Her parents stressed the importance of education, which led her to become a special education teacher, school leader, district level leader, and US government official. She developed the YOU, Your Child's First Teacher program because she believes to her core that parents are the number one factor in a child's educational success. Sunny founded SPC Educational Solutions in 2003. 

Our team offers services we believe help leaders become more effective, whether that is prioritizing the big rocks or help lifting the small, but impactful, ones for them. We are a team of educators and leaders, and we bring a range of experiences and expertises. 

YOU Your Child's First Teacher is a parent engagement program that has been implemented across the country in dozens of organizations, ranging from schools to non-profits. The workshops, trainings, and materials in the program are in both English and Spanish.
